Supporting a boy’s tuition and boarding at St Andrew’s College for five years is an investment. Donors may contribute annually in line with school fees or structure a giving plan tailored to their financial and philanthropic goals.
One model uses fixed annual donations invested to generate income. This begins by supporting two boys in the first year, with additional boys added over time. Within 7–8 years, the fund sustains four boys at 50% bursary support.
Strategic giving emphasises the creation of self-sustaining models that can independently thrive over time. This mindset shifts the focus from short-term aid to long-lasting empowerment.
This approach blends immediate impact with enduring vision, creating a meaningful legacy. To explore a tailored bursary plan, please arrange a one-on-one with the Director of Advancement.

Invest permanently in College’s future. Endowed gifts are placed in a long-term investment pool, with only the income used each year to support scholarships and bursaries, namely through the Buyel’ekhaya Scholarships and Bursaries Endowment Fund.
As stewards of these resources, the Investment Committee ensures that endowed funds generate reliable, sustainable returns, providing ongoing opportunities for deserving boys to access an Andrean education, regardless of financial circumstances.
By contributing to an endowed fund, you are making a strategic, long-term investment. Your gift preserves capital, ensures predictable impact, and upholds College’s tradition of excellence and inclusion for generations to come.
The Investment Committee of Council oversees the performance and growth of the endowed funds, ensuring your generosity is managed responsibly and used to advance College’s mission for decades.

Corporate partnerships play a vital role in shaping the future of education in South Africa. Through strategic giving, your company can make a meaningful investment in education while also advancing its transformation goals. Contributions towards bursaries, scholarships and development projects may qualify for points under the B-BBEE scorecard, allowing your organisation to create real social impact while meeting compliance objectives. By partnering with College, you not only open doors of opportunity for deserving young students but also strengthen your company’s legacy of empowerment.
Alongside cash gifts, you can create lasting impact by donating bonds, shares, life insurance policies, real estate and other securities to St Andrew’s College. As your investments grow, so too does their potential to strengthen College through capital appreciation and dividend distributions. By contributing shares in your public or private company, you can align your success with the future of our boys. For tax purposes, please note that deductions apply only to donations of public shares.
Since 1855, every Andrean who has walked the grounds of our beloved College campus has benefitted, in some form or another, from the legacies bestowed upon our school by Old Andreans past or friends of our school. These legacies have helped shape every boy, ultimately playing a significant role in the history of St Andrew’s College. Generous gifts have made it possible to offer bursaries or scholarships to support talented boys, or enabling the expansion of facilities to meet the evolving needs of future Andreans.
Andrean men have a lasting impact on the communities and industries they dutifully serve, and we remain committed to sending remarkable, good men into the world, to effect positive change. That is the legacy of St Andrew’s College.
Creating a Will ensures that your assets are distributed according to your wishes after your death, offering the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy for loved ones or support the non-profits that are close to your heart. A bequest is an effective way to establish your own personal legacy, and to lessen the burden of taxes on your family and on your estate. Over time, financial situations can shift, making it important to regularly review your Will with your advisors and family. This helps ensure your wishes are honoured and your beneficiaries are protected. It’s recommended to have a lawyer handle the drafting and witnessing of your Will to guarantee that all necessary formalities are followed and the document remains valid.
National Wills Week is an annual campaign offering the public an opportunity to have a basic will drafted for free by participating law firms registered with the Law Society of South Africa (LSSA). For more information or to find a participating law firm in your area, visit https://www.lssa.org.za.
This year National Wills Week will be held from 14 to 18 September 2026.
Choosing a bequest option – There are several ways that you can make a bequest to College.
The culture of giving has long been part of our history and ethos, and St Andrew’s College owes its existence to the generosity of successive generations of Old Andreans and parents who have helped to build this great school. As you are part of our extraordinary community, it is our hope that you will see the value in leaving a legacy to ensure the future of our beloved school.
If you would like to include College as a beneficiary in your Will, we would be honoured to speak with you privately about how your bequest could benefit College. Your legacy can contribute towards:
If you have already remembered College in your Will, please let us know so that we can ensure that your wishes are fully understood and so that we can recognise your magnanimity appropriately.
Gifts of this nature are truly extraordinary, reflecting one’s trust in our commitment to securing a sustainable future for our school and the countless future generations of young Andreans who will benefit from the Andrean experience. Depending on the level of commitment, naming rights may be requested. A bursary or scholarship in your memory, or a capital project, ensures that your legacy lives on.
If you have an existing Will, but have not provided a legacy for St Andrew’s College, a convenient and inexpensive codicil can be drafted and attached to your Will. Please find a codicil for a specified sum for guidance, but it is crucial that you consult your legal adviser regarding a bequest, whether for a specified sum, a portion of your residuary estate or as a contingent gift.
Please reach out to the Advancement Office at advancement@sacschool.com to discuss your wishes further.
The Andrean Legacy Society serves to recognise all Old Andreans and friends of St Andrew’s College who have made or who intends to make provisions for a bequest to our school in their estate plan. We are grateful for those who have had the vision of ensuring a sustainable and ever-growing St Andrew’s College.
Our inaugural Giving Day took place on 13 and 14 May 2026.

To ensure that our current and future USA donors still have a tax-efficient way of donating to College, we have been able to secure the use of the Rhodes University Trust USA, their 501 (c) (3) trust in America, so that our donors may still take advantage of the tax benefits provided to USA tax payers while continuing to contribute to College.
The Rhodes University Trust USA (a tax-exempt, non-profit organization) was set up in 1992 and became fully operational in 1993. Its primary purpose is to provide funding and support for educational activities conducted by Rhodes University in South Africa and other educational institutions and initiatives in the surrounding area.
The Rhodes University Trust USA is managed by a board of trustees, all of whom have volunteered their services and time free of charge. The board consists of at least three people at all times – the President, Treasurer and Secretary. It meets approximately once a quarter to discuss strategy, disbursement of funds and other matters of business.
The Rhodes University Trust USA will accept both electronic transfers and online donations to College and Prep via their established procedures, and these gifts will be transferred to us in due course.
