St Andrew’s College recently celebrated an extraordinary milestone in the life of the school, as our inaugural Giving Day brought together the entire Andrean community in a powerful demonstration of generosity, connection and shared purpose.
Thanks to the remarkable support of Old Andreans, current parents, boys, staff, friends of the school and the broader community, a total of R11 216 425.00 was raised over the campaign. We are pleased to confirm that this final amount has been fully audited and verified by the College Finance Department, ensuring complete transparency and accountability.
While the total itself is significant, what made Giving Day truly exceptional was the spirit in which it unfolded. Over the course of the campaign, our boys took centre-stage — making thousands of calls and engaging directly with members of the Andrean network. These conversations went far beyond fundraising. They reignited relationships, strengthened bonds and gave our boys a firsthand experience of what it means to belong to a deeply connected, transgenerational community.
For many, this was an experience well outside their comfort zone. What began with understandable nerves quickly grew into confidence, as the boys discovered that their sincerity, warmth and authenticity were more than enough. In the process, they developed not only new skills, but a deeper appreciation for the strength and generosity of the community that stands behind them.
The atmosphere on campus reflected this energy throughout the day. The inter-house challenge inspired camaraderie and healthy competition, while the involvement of our Prep School added a special dimension — a reminder of the enduring bond between Prep and College, and the important role it plays as the foundation of the Andrean journey.
There were also countless moments that captured the essence of the day — the sounds of laughter, music drifting across the campus, and groups (including our sisters in green) gathering informally to share in the occasion.
These moments served as a reminder that Giving Day was about far more than a financial outcome; it was a celebration of community, belonging and shared identity. The funds raised will directly support the school’s key priorities, including scholarships and bursaries, the Boarding and Sporting Promises, and strategic projects at the discretion of Council. Each of these areas is carefully aligned with our commitment to broadening opportunity, strengthening the College experience and ensuring long-term sustainability.
Importantly, Giving Day was never intended to be a once-off initiative. Rather, it has shown what is possible when a community comes together with a shared vision. The real responsibility now lies in ensuring that this remarkable generosity translates into meaningful, lasting impact.
We are deeply committed to stewarding these funds wisely and purposefully — to ensuring that this gift benefits not only our current boys, but future generations of Andreans, as well as the broader community we serve. Every contribution, regardless of size, plays a role in shaping that future.
As we look ahead, the momentum created through Giving Day will continue to guide our efforts. By listening carefully to the voices and intentions behind each gift, and by remaining focused on our long-term priorities, we aim to build on this foundation in ways that strengthen connection, expand opportunity and reinforce the values that define St Andrew’s College.
Above all, Giving Day reminded us of something deeply important: that the strength of this school lies in its people — in their willingness to give, to connect and to invest in something greater than themselves.
